Full Guide to Fix “No Sound on TikTok”

No sound on TikTok

You need the sound to get the whole experience when you watch a TikTok video. Whether you’re watching someone tell jokes, listening to a song, or learning about the world, none of it is possible without sound.

This article will examine why TikTok sounds might not be working and how you can solve it.

No Sound on TikTok

The first issue you might face is not having any sounds to select when you’re making a video. Whether you’re taking part in the latest dance trend, or you’re filming your reaction to an audio clip from a recent TV show.

When you go to select which sound to use, there are no options to pick because no sounds are loading. Let’s look at how to solve this issue.

#1. Check the network

TikTok requires the internet. If you don’t have a stable internet connection, TikTok sounds might not be loaded on your phone and you are not able to choose any sound. This is why it’s vital to ensure you’re not just connected, but your connection is strong enough.

If you’re using Wi-Fi, open your phone’s browser app and use the website speedcheck.org to determine whether your Wi-Fi is strong or weak. Choose another available and fast WiFi if possible to resolve the “TikTok no sound” issue.

But, if you use data to access the internet, here’s how you can check how strong it is.

The test that we like to do is to watch a YouTube video, whilst using cellar data. You can pick whichever one you want.

If the video plays flawlessly, with no picture quality issues, or buffering, you know that your network is strong enough for TikTok.

But, if you find that YouTube videos are poor quality, take a long time to load, or keep stopping, it might be wise to switch to Wi-Fi if you have a strong and stable Wi-Fi option available.

#2. Use VPN

Sometimes, the cause of “no sound on TikTok” could be your location. Perhaps TikTok is having trouble with the servers in your country. Or maybe the problem is something to do with copyright. Either way, the solution is to lie to your phone about where you live.

Some VPNs will give you absolute anonymity. You can use internet-requiring apps on multiple devices for as long as you like. You’ve probably heard of some of them because they often sponsor YouTubers and Podcasts. The most common options include Express VPN, Surfshark, and NordVPN.

The only issue with these apps is that you generally have to pay for them. They might do a free trial, but some people want a VPN for free.

If you go to the iOS or Google Play Store and type in “VPN”, you’ll find plenty of free VPN apps. However, most of these only allow you to use their VPNs for a limited time.

Whether you’d rather pay for a permanent VPN, have a timer on a free one, or just wait for TikTok to sort any problems out, is up to you.

TikTok No Sound When Recording or Editing Video

For some Samsung users, it seems TikTok sound is not working when they record or edit a video. No matter the sound they selected from TikTok or the sound they speak, nothing works. But, when the video is published, the sound is there!

Before reading the rest of this section, you might want to check the following:

  • Is your volume turned on?
  • Is your phone connected to any speakers?
  • Does the video you’re watching have sound?

If your answers are YES, the “TikTok sound not working” issue isn’t with the speakers or the microphone.

To hear the audio when recording or editing your TikTok videos, you’ll have to enable Dolby Atmos.

  • Open the Settings App.
  • Select “Sounds and Vibration”.
  • Select “Sound Quality and Effects”.
  • Make sure “Dolby Atmos” is toggled on.

No Sound on Certain TikTok Videos

Sometimes, you might notice it’s only a specific TikTok video that has no sound although you 100% selected a sound for it, or you found someone’s TikTok video sound has no sound. In these circumstances, it’s probably nothing to do with your phone but with the video sound itself.

Here are some of the most common reasons specific TikTok videos might be without sound.

Copyright issues. TikTok can remove or mute the sounds if they violate Copyright laws and policies. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a solution for this. If you do not have permission to use a sound, TikTok is within its right to remove your video sound that uses it. It is better to choose another sound.

Regional restrictions. A particular song might have copyright restrictions in a specific country or place. You can solve this issue by downloading a VPN app onto your phone and faking your location.

Technical issues. Various technical issues might cause a video not to have its sound. The problem could be with their phone, your phone, TikTok, the internet, or many other factors.

Here are some potential solutions to various technical issues.

  • Check the video’s comments to see if you’re the only one who cannot hear it.
  • Watch a YouTube video to see if your internet is strong enough.
  • Check for the words “Sound Removed” to see if it’s been removed for Copyright violations.
